With less than two months to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers, the fate of Zimbabwe and Kenya are still unknown.
Suspended by FIFA, Kenya and Zimbabwe are among the seeded teams ahead of the draw which is set to take place on Tuesday, April 19th.
The Confederation Of Africa Football (CAF) has given both Kenya and Zimbabwe up to two weeks to their first matchdays of the 2023 qualifiers to get their FIFA suspensions lifted. If they fail to get the ban lifted they will be considered to have lost the games and therefore, eliminated from the qualifiers and their groups will then consist of only three teams.
Seeded in different pots ahead of the April 19 draw, the two teams cannot be in the same group due to the circumstances surrounding their participation.
The top two of each group will qualify for the final phase, scheduled in Côte d’Ivoire from June 23 to July 23, 2023. Except for the group of the host country where only one ticket is available.
