Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will declare the 20th edition of the National Sports Festival closed.
The Sports Fiesta which kicked off on Sunday, April 4 will come to a climax today.
As part of activities to draw the curtain on the games tagged Edo 2020,Osinbajo will be accompanied by the Minister of Youth and Sports development, Sunday Dare along with the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki among other dignitaries.
A release by the Project Manager media and communication for the festival,Ebomhiana Musa, noted that the order of events for the closing ceremony, show that the event will last for three hours,6pm-9pm.
The only sporting event slated for the day is the mixed relay( two men and two women) and 4×400 meters
Three top class Nigerian artists have been scheduled to spice up the ceremony.
They are franchise, Joeboy and Teni the entertainer. There will be parade of athletes as well.
Meanwhile, defending champions of National Sports Festival, Team Delta lead the overall medals table with 329 medals,comprising of 139 gold,98 silver and 92 bronze.
Host,Edo State are placed second with 309 medals, consisting of 118 gold,100 silver and 91 bronze, while Team Bayelsa has 154 medals made up of 50 gold,49 silver and 55 bronze to make up the top three.
Team Delta has dominated all events from the start of the competition and on Wednesday ended the weightlifting event with six gold medals.
The Delta weight Lifters garnered 44 medals of 22 gold,13 silver and 7 bronze to come tops.
In another development,the sports Minister, Sunday Dare said the national sports festival, Edo 2020 has lived up to expectations in forging national unity and discovery of talents.
Dare who went round the venues at the festival revealed that swimming is one of the sports where the Country can win more than one medal at the Olympics.
Sports Correspondent, Shedrack Saxon Udu,who is in Edo reports that the sports Minister was delighted in the athletes impressive performances, insisting that the Adopt-an- Athlete Initiative where some athletes were funded to train,get coaches as well as equipment under private partnership was paying off.
