Uche Ihuarulam’s profile continues to rise in the current Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, campaign, as the striker scored his third of the season after about six weeks of action in the top flight.
Warri Wolves deservedly took the lead against Nasarawa United in their Matchday 6 clash at the Delta State Polytechnic Stadium in Ozoro, in the 21 minutes, with Uche Ihuarulam heading in a Jumbo Wisdom’s pinpoint cross from the right to put the Wolves 1 – 0 ahead.
The opening half ended 1 – 0 in favor of the hosts, as the Seasiders finished the first stanza as the better team.
The resumption of the second half saw Nasarawa United controlling the pace of the game and stringing dangerous passes together around the vital area of Warri Wolves in search of the equalizer.
In the 63 minutes, Silas Nwankwo scored the equalizing goal after a well worked corner kick from the left flank.
15 minutes later, Chinedu Ohanachom tapped in the ball to give the visitors a 2 – 1 lead, following another corner kick.
After the game, Warri Wolves’ Technical Adviser, Evans Ogenyi, said it was unfortunate that the game ended 2 – 1 in favor of the visitors.
” It’s just unfortunate that it ended this way,” said Ogenyi.
“It’s an unpredictable game. That’s football for you.”
“Sometimes, when you’re anxious, you don’t take your chances, it goes that way.”
He noted that they would reaccess the situation and make sure it would not itself in their next game.
Warri Wolves will take on Dakkada FC on Matchday 7 in Uyo.
