The 13th All Africa Games which will also serve as qualifications for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France is scheduled to take place from August 4th-19th 2023 in Accra, Ghana.
This will be the first time this event will be hosted in Ghana after its inauguration in 1965 and have been hosted in 10 African cities.
Ghana was awarded the rights to host the 13th edition of the multi-sport event in 2018 and has been preparing to host the continent in August this year but the country is struggling to complete infrastructure for the games on time, with the Local Organising Committee warning that any delay in the release of funds for the project could jeopardise their ability to meet deadlines.
The main venue, the Borteyman Olympic Sports Complex, is still under construction, and it is unclear when it will be ready to host the games.
In January, the Ghana Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon Mustapha Ussif continued with his monthly inspection of construction works for the 2023 African Games by visiting the University of Ghana Stadium and Borteyman Sports complex.
According to the minister, work is progressing steadily at the facility and says Ghana will be ready on time to Host Africa in August.
