The Kenya President Uhuru Kenyatta add more trains and railway stations to the Nairobi region to improve the regional transports system.
The President who said the Government is focused in its implementation of integrated transport network projects in Nairobi to curb the huge losses Kenyans face as a result of traffic congestion in the country capital city and region.
President Uhuru emphasized that the Government’s investment in an integrated mass transit is informed by the various transport challenges in the urban areas of the country.
This he said in Nairobi when he commissioned the new look Nairobi Central Railway Station and unveiled commuter rail service across 10 stations in the Nairobi Metropolitan region that will be served by modern trains, referred to as Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs).
The DMUs form an elaborate master plan to address the urgent need to revamp the Nairobi Commuter rail service in a bid to reduce traffic congestion within the city and its environs. The modern commuter transport system will be used on services from Nairobi Central to Syokimau, Embakasi Village, Kitengela, Ruiru, Thika and Kikuyu. #NairobiCommuterRail
