Tension in Ivory Coast as Some protesters within and outside Abidjan have come out in masses to protest against President Alassane Ouattara’s new third term bid which escalated with at least two people killed in Bonoua during the protest.
The Protesters erected barricades and burned tires in various neighborhoods of Abidjan on Thursday during protest that was earlier banned by the Ivorian Minister of Territorial Administration, Sidiki Diakité, in a statement.
Clashes erupted in several places, between protesters and law enforcement. According to a first report, unofficial, issued to Jeune Afrique by a high-ranking police officer, there were at least five people killed during these clashes.
Yopougon also saw protesters, protesting against the against the third term bid of Ouattara, August 13, 2020 in Abidjan.
“We are demonstrating for the third term bid by President Ouattara, because his third term bid violates the Ivorian Constitution, we do not want to accept a third term,” Hervé Séka, a protester in the Anono district, told said
