Former Al Ahly goalkeeper Ahmed Shobier has made a bold statement suggesting Percy Tau does not want to play for South Africa under Hugo Broos.
The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns forward will be missing from Bafana Bafana’s friendlies this month, with it being reported that he is battling with fitness issues despite recently turning out for his club.
Broos has suggested that Tau should take a six-month break from football to recover from all of the injuries he has had in recent years, but ex-Al Ahly goalkeeper Ahmed Shobier believes there is more to it.
“South Africa head coach excluded Tau from his squad and he seems to be angry with the player,” Shobeir was quoted as saying by Kingfut .
“Percy Tau doesn’t seem to want to play for South Africa with Broos as head coach as well.
“After excluding Tau, Broos made a statement, claiming that the player needs a six-month break.
“That was strange, especially since Tau was one of his most important players.”
