Nigeria’s Francis Uzoho, was in top form as his club, Omonia Nicosia, clashed with Manchester United in a UEFA Europa League match.
Uzoho trended on Twitter for his great performance in the match and even caught the eyes of top footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Thierry Nyann tweeted, “Manchester United needs something extra to beat Nigeria’s Francis Uzoho tonight.”
Meanwhile, Samuel Luckhurst recalled Uzoho’s role in Nigeria’s inability to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar. He said, “An eventful 2022 for Uzoho, who’s gone from apologising for preventing Nigeria from qualifying for the World Cup to keeping United at bay for the best part of 50 minutes.”
Uzoho reacting to his performance said “It’s a dream come true [to play at Old Trafford]. I have dreamed to play here for a long, long time. So when I saw the draw, and figured I would by playing at Old Trafford, I wanted to play and prayed to God that I would get the opportunity to play. I got it and I am so happy…”
Uzoho is a lifelong United fan and he had the game of his life as he made 12 saves at Old Trafford. He couldn’t stop smiling after the match despite the heartbreaking loss.
The match ended in 1-0 in favour of the home team, Manchester United.
