Real Madrid youngster, Eduardo Camavinga’s dreams came to reality on Saturday, May 28th After Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 to win their 14 Champions League title.
The French International life is an inspiring one after going from a refugee camp in Angola to playing in the biggest club competition in the world.
According to the 19-year-old, going through from being homeless in Angola to playing on the streets in France inspired his football career.
” I refugee camp in Angola after my family fled the war. My parents brought me to a new life in France and football has brought me to the Champions League final. I’m grateful to play and proud to do so as a former refugee.” He said
Camavinga was born in a refugee camp in war-torn Cabinda, Angola in 2002, to Congolese parents.
His family moved to Fougères, where he grew up to practise judo for a time, before giving it up to focus solely on football.
In 2013, the youngster face another obstacle when his family house was burnt down, destroying most of the family’s property.
Camavinga started his football Career with Rennes’ youth system when he was 11 and signed his first professional contract on 14 December 2018, at the age of 16 years and one month, becoming the youngest ever professional for the club.
The 19-year-old join Real Madrid id from Rennes on August 2021 and signed a contract until 30 June 2027 and made his debut in a 5–2 win over Celta Vigo on 12 September 2021, in which he scored a goal shortly after coming off the bench.
In the Champions League Final against Liverpool, Camavinga was introduced as substitute for Valverde in the 85th minute of the finals which took place in Paris, France.
