Madrid bring Barça’s 19-game league unbeaten run to an end with a 2-1 victory and stretched their undefeated streak to 10 in the Spanish top flight.
Zinedine Zidane’s side leads 2-0 at half-time courtesy of first-half strikes from Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos before Oscar pulled one back 15 minutes into the second half.
But Barcelona Ronald Koeman was upset with how much time was added on and the penalty wasn’t given to his side.
“Once again we have to accept it and shut our mouths… And only four minutes of extra time in a game like this?”
“The referee adds four minutes of extra time while it cost the referee three minutes to change his headset…”
“I don’t know why there is VAR in Spain.”
“We weren’t good in the first half, neither an attack nor in defence.”
“Everyone in the world saw that it was a penalty.”
“I always defend my team and my club and I don’t want to say more about this issue.”
“The remainder of La Liga? The truth is that I’m very optimistic. We have shown that we fight and there are many games left. We’re going to fight until the very last game.”
“The dressing room after the game? The team feels sad, because of the decision by the referee. We know that we haven’t been at our best level tonight. We didn’t defend well enough.”
“Next week we have a title to play for and we’ll keep on preparing.”
Real Madrid move up to the summit of the Spanish Laliga with today victory over Barcelona.
