The Chipolopolo cheer leader who stole the show at Limbe Stadium has been identified and handed over a complete set of jerseys by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).
Magdaline Teke, a Cameroonian, has won many Zambian hearts with her high-spirited performance at Limbe Stadium as she flew the Zambian flag.
FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala handed over the replicas to Teke and thanked the Cameroonian for leading the support in the stands for Zambia.
Kashala said Teke was part of a group of students that were identified to help cheer the team.
“By now everyone back home knows how passionate our dear lady was in supporting our team. Her gesture is well received and we though as part of our recognition we dress her in our replicas,” Kashala said.
“We will still do the same for the game against Namibia and also ensure that our Zambian corner of supporters has more regalia that is in national colours.”
The players also delighted in the presence of their newfound chief cheer leader whose acts became part of the highlight of the night that saw Zambia draw 1-1 with Guinea.
Teke never dropped her flag throughout the match and went wild with Zambia’s 87th minute equalizer by Spencer Sautu.
Zambia plays Namibia on Wednesday at Limbe Stadium in the final Group D match with a quarterfinal place at stake.
The Chipolopolo beat Tanzania in the opening game before drawing with Guinea in the second match and will compete their group assignment with Namibia.
