Giants Tunisia, Egypt, Cameroon and Morocco continued their journey to the semifinal of the 2021 Men’s African Nations Championship following their victories in the quarterfinal matches at Kigali Arena on Saturday.
Tunisia face Egypt in another African Derby in the semifinal on Monday, while as Cameroon meets Morocco.
The qualifiers to the semis have 20 out of 22 titles under their name in the history of the competition which started in 1967, Tunisia 10, Egypt 8 and Cameroon 2.
Tunisia took on RD Congo 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-21), while Egypt played their best in the competition so far to beat dark horses Uganda 3-1 (28-30, 25-18, 25-16, 25-21).
Cameroon fought aggressively to overcome resurgent Nigeria 3-1 (25-19, 25-27, 25-19, 25-20), Meanwhile Rwanda aided by the huge crowd couldn’t stop the Moroccans who were the only second placed team to book a semifinal ticket.
In the play off 9-16 places Kenya, Niger and Mali emerged winners over Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and South Sudan respectively to play for 9-12 positions along with Burundi who was bye due to the forfeit of Tanzania
