An additional batch of 200 000 Sinovac vaccines procured by the Government of Botswana from China will arrive in the country soon.
This was revealed by the Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration Mr Kabo Morwaeng yesterday when receiving a consignment of 200 000 doses generously donated by the Government of the People’s Republic of China.
“A combination of the donated vaccines and purchased ones will make a total of 400 000 doses which will cover a significant percentage of our population” he said.
For his part the Ambassador of the Peoples Republic of China to Botswana Mr Wang Xuefeng said the vaccines which is a gift of life to the people of Botswana will help with the country’s sustainable development in a long run.
He added that the safety and efficacy of China vaccines have been widely recognized across the world.
Meanwhile the Minister of Health and Wellness Dr Edwin Dikoloti said COVID-19 vaccinations remains the only hope for the world.
He said the ministry will announce the rollout programme for Sinovac vaccination in the next few days
