Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Malawi President Dr Lazarus Chakwera were seen watching the COSAFA derby that involves their country in the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Both President who were kitted on Their National team kits were cheering their teams to victory but the Malawi Flames were the ones who make their president happy with a win over their COSAFA counterparts.
After the game the Malawian President posted “It is the final score that matters. Well done to the Flames. Malawi is a fighting spirit and a winning team”.
Malawi National Football Team, the Flames put up a vintage performance to subdue Zimbabwe’s Warriors 2-1 in a crunch Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group B tie to revive their chances of making it to the knockout stage.
Gabadinho Mhango became the first Malawian to score a brace at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament when he inspired the Malawi National Football Team to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Zimbabwe Warriors in the second game of Group B.
The result means Malawi are still third with three points and they will play Senegal on Tuesday next week in their final Group B match.
This was Malawi’s second win ever at the continental showpiece.
