Liverpool forward Sadio Mane and Chelsea Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy are off to join the Senegal team in Dakar for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon after playing against each other on match day 20 of the EPL.
Both players were on the lineup for their English clubs in the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge with Mane scoring one of the reds two goals.
Mendy posted the picture of him and Mane with a caption that reads ” Off to AFCON” a few hours after the cracker between both Senegalese players at Stamford bridge.
The Senegal national team will depart for Rwanda for residential training ahead of the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.
Coach Aliou Cisse named a formidable 27-man squad last week for the tournament and they will begin preparations in Dakar before flying to Rwanda.
The squad includes Liverpool’s talisman Sadio Mane as well as Napoli skipper Kalidou Koulibally and Chelsea’s safest pair of hands Edouard Mendy.
The Teranga Lions, who are ranked number one in Africa will play two friendly games in Rwanda with one being against the Amavubi.
Senegisare in Group B of the 2021 AFCON alongside Guinea, Zimbabwe and Malawi and will kick start their campaign against the Warriors of Zimbabwe on January 10th.
