Stampede at the Yaounde Omnisport Stadium Leaves Six dead and Several Injured
Multiple persons have been injured in a stampede at the entrance to the Olembe stadium in Cameroon a capital, Yaoundé.
They were among tens of thousands that turned up to watch the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations encounter between the host nation, Cameroon and Comoros.
The exact number of casualties remains unknown at the moment but six persons have been confirmed dead and several others injured in the stampede in Yaounde
According to reports, the football fans were confronted by military officers guarding the entry way to the stadium after they attempted to force their way in.
In course of the tussle, the powerless were pushed to the ground and the population while attempting to escape the military and force their way in trampled on them leading to casualties.
The incident led to the intervention of the Police, Gendarmes and Army Rescue who’ve transported those injured to the Messasi hospital just few meters from the Olembe Stadium.
