Zambia Contingent has arrived Mauritania ahead of Friday clash with Denmark based Lubambo Musonda and Djurgarden’s Edward Chilufya the latest players to linked up with their Chipolopolo teammates in Nouakchott.
Lubambo and Chilufya complete the final pieces of Beston Chambeshi’s players summoned for the back-to-back Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The duo flew directly from their bases and arrived earlier that the squad that came from Marrakech after a 10-day training camp.
In an interview, Chilufya who last featured for the Chipolopolo on October 9, 2020, in an international friendly against Kenya in Nairobi said the team would fight to record a positive result in the Group B opener on Friday.
“Of course, it won’t be an easy game, but we have to play as a team because away games are not easy to play but we have to make sure we go back home with at least a draw.”
“I feel excited to be back in the national team. It is always an honour to represent our country so that I can represent it to the best of my abilities. It is a great feeling to be back,” enthused the 2017 under-20 winning attacking midfielder.
And Musonda who is on the books of Horsens in Denmark said a positive result away would give the team a huge boost in the campaign.
“Well playing away is always tough, but we will make sure we get the best result out of this game. Mostly it gives much confidence to the players when we are playing away and we get good results we will have that good confidence to play the other matches,” he said.
“Looking at the players that are here, knowing them from back then, I believe they are able to deliver and give the best fort the country.”
Coach Beston Chambeshi and Technical Advisor Aljosa Asanovic have named 22 players comprising seven foreign based and 15 locals for the Mauritania and Tunisia matches.
Zambia plays Mauritania on Friday at the Olympic Stadium in Nouakchott be4fore hosting Tunisia four days later in Ndola at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
